Nurturing Space
Life is not just an exam and a city is not just a place. We believe that a city's future is determined by how it treats its women and children. Here at the Nurturing Space, we seek to provide women and children in India a safe space to build confidence and develop the skills they need to transform their future and their community.
Current state of women and children in small cities of India
While India has earned its place in the global economy the narrative of small cities has not changed. Small cities are the gateway to rural India, sheltering the majority of its population, and problems.
Women in small cities generally do not have the choice to build a career and have ambitions outside of their homes. This makes it harder for them to be the agents of change in their community or even understand the educational needs of their children.
For children, education system focuses entirely on exams which do not help them think for themselves or for their community. The outcomes of this type of education are very limited. Kids who are lucky to get a good education migrate to different places in search of jobs and the rest of them join the hustle of these small cities. There is no opportunity for them to build a future in their own city.

Let's imagine a different future:
Where children can think beyond exams and gain the skills and confidence needed to build a future and create new opportunities in their city.
Where women have the opportunity to choose their role in the community and feel empowered to lead the change.
Here's how we can change the future together
There are a lot of problems that need to be solved, let's start with the ones that are at the core.
Nurturing Space is committed to addressing the fundamental issues of education and awareness by providing women and children a safe space to build confidence and develop the skills they need to transform their lives through following programs:
Kids going to public schools have no libraries, no audio/visual learning aids and no creative space. Kids are not provided the opportunity to imagine, to create and explore their true potential.
These schools find hard to achieve even the basic educational goals. Lack of resources, shortage of teachers, lack of complementry skills among appointed teachers, dropping attendance, uneducated guardians are some of the challenges these schools face.
Technology has helped bridge the gap between people who love to teach and the kids who want to learn. We want to create a "Nurturing Space" within public schools and bring these resources to the kids who need it the most.
This space would have books, digital media, educational games and a trained librarian/coordinator to help teachers and students to navigate through these resources. We will collaborate with organizations working in the space of free education to select, create and translate digital content to the needs of local demographics.
Parvarish (meaning: to nurture, pronounced: per-var-ish)
A program focused on improving the quality of education in public schools

This program would supplement the public schools and help kids gain the skills critical for the future ahead of them: Information Literacy, Sustainability, Emotional Intelligence, Communication, Critical Thinking, Collaboration, and Creativity. These skills would enable them to dream and create new opportunities within their community.
Hosla (meaning: Morale, pronounced: ho-s-la)
A program to empower woman by helping them further their education and learn vocational skills.
Nurturing Space would be used to conduct programs to help women from local neighborhood to further their education during after school hours. We will design programs to help them be skilled and enterprising based on their interest.
This would ensure that we are enabling and empowering the person who empowers an entire family. Using the same space for both programs would maximize the use of its resources.
For the first phase and proof of concept, these programs will start in Bijnor, a city in Western UP, India. We are hoping to start the pilot program between April-May this year.
